Leaders said the raid included seizure of records and alleged mistreatment of traders, and they demanded a transparent inquiry and strict disciplinary action against those responsible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sheikh Asif Idris<\/strong>, president of the Central Sarafa Union Rawalpindi Islamabad, said institutions must respect existing laws and stop harassing traders under the guise of expanding the tax net. He warned that continued excesses by state agencies would force the business community to resort to strike action. <strong>Fayyaz Qureshi<\/strong>, president of New Sarafa Bazaar Rawalpindi, described the Karachi jewellery raid as business hostile and unconstitutional and urged immediate accountability.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rana Abdul Quddus<\/strong>, president of Murree Road Jewellers Association, called traders the backbone of the national economy and asked for clear SOPs to prevent future illegal interventions. Senior union figures including <strong>Raja Farzand Ali<\/strong>, <strong>Sheikh Asim Idris<\/strong>, <strong>Parvez Ghazi<\/strong> and a delegation of district presidents and office-bearers pledged legal support to protect traders&#8217; lives, property and dignity under the Constitution and relevant laws.<\/p>\n<p>Attendees at the Rawalpindi meeting included Rana Arif, Malik Jamil of Taxila, Muhammad Iftikhar, Muhammad Nasar of Attock, Asif Masood of Kahuta, Qaiser Kiyani, Rehan Rabbani, Malik Irfan and other senior trade leaders who voiced deep anger over the raid. They emphasized that expanding the tax base should never be used to intimidate or exploit honest businesses.<\/p>\n<p>The union called for an immediate and impartial investigation into the Karachi jewellery raid, transparent public reporting of findings and prompt disciplinary measures if laws were breached. Officials also demanded that enforcement agencies operate strictly within legal boundaries and that standard operating procedures be published to protect traders from arbitrary action.<\/p>\n<p>At the close of the meeting, under the leadership of Sheikh Asif Idris and Fayyaz Qureshi, participants staged a strong protest on Murree Road against what they described as unlawful raids and mistreatment by government agencies.
