The evening gathered artists, cultural voices and creative professionals for an intimate listening session, selected screenings and a conversation on music as a bridge between communities.

The event also marked the British Council’s continuing support for arts and cultural exchange in Pakistan and coincided with the 10 year anniversary of the reopening of British Council libraries in Karachi and Lahore. Representatives highlighted how collaborations like Humnava place Pakistan’s creative voice in a wider global conversation while fostering inclusive cultural networks.

Humnava Isekta is an Arabic track with a meditative, emotionally charged atmosphere. Written and composed by Bakrin Timlfati, the song channels longing, memory and inner love through emotional guitars, traditional percussion and haunting vocals to create a soundscape that feels both personal and universally resonant.

The project was curated by Xulfi and Sherry Khattak and features vocal performances by Bakrin Timlfati, Eliza Khan and Shahid Hussain. Arrangement credits go to Xulfi, Sherry Khattak and Bakrin Timlfati, while Xulfi produced and mixed the track. Musicians on the recording include Amine Laroug on acoustic guitars and backing vocals, Muhammad Hunaid on rubab, Melvin Arthur and Dorian Jonas Goetsch on synth bass, Xulfi on percussion and Adnan Karim on djembe. The music video was filmed at Passu Ground in Hunza, tying the release back to Pakistan’s northern landscapes.

Curator and producer Xulfi described Isekta as a keepsake of moments you know will never return, noting that the recording session carried added poignancy because it was Bakrin and Amin’s last day in Pakistan. That immediacy, he said, is central to Humnava’s ethos: bringing artists together to create recordings that become souvenirs of shared stories, friendships and cultural exchange.

The launch programme included a panel on inclusion, language exploration and the role of music in cultural exchange, reflecting Humnava’s mission to amplify local sounds for global audiences. Season 1 of Humnava has already brought together more than 30 musicians and collaborators from Pakistan and abroad, positioning the platform as a creative meeting place rooted in Pakistan but open to international voices.

Humnava Isekta is now available to watch on YouTube and to stream on Spotify, and it will be featured across broadcast platforms.
