The Centre for Afghanistan, Middle East and Africa (CAMEA) at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) held a roundtable discussion on \u201cThe Makkah Joint Defence Agreement and the Emerging Regional Security Architecture\u201d on August 18, 2026.<\/p>\n
The discussion was attended by former diplomats, senior academics, security analysts and prominent practitioners. The participants deliberated on the significance of the recently concluded Makkah Joint Defence Pact, its possible implications for the regional security environment, and Pakistan\u2019s evolving role in the emerging regional security architecture.<\/p>\n
Speakers observed that the agreement could be viewed as an initial move towards a wider regional security framework. They noted that if other states were included in the future, such an arrangement could help promote peace and stability in the region.<\/p>\n
