RAWALPINDI: The World Peace Jirga Program (WPJP) held a seminar on Business Promotion, Peace and Development at the Shalimar Grand Hotel, Rawalpindi, on September 1, 2026.<\/p>\n
The event was led and hosted by WPJP Chairman Mr Rayatullah Khan, also known as Khan Baba, and Women Peace Jirga Program Chairperson Ms Sadia Khan, also known as Khan Bibi.<\/p>\n
The seminar brought together stakeholders committed to strengthening the traditional jirga system, promoting peace and national unity, and facilitating business and investment opportunities across Pakistan.<\/p>\n
According to the organisers, one of the key objectives of the gathering was to further the establishment of jirga committees at the national and international levels. WPJP said it has established and promoted jirga committees across Pakistan to create a community-based mechanism for dialogue, conflict resolution, reconciliation, business promotion and development.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the seminar, Khan Baba referred to his longstanding voluntary service and engagement with affected communities in Swat during the period of military operations against militancy. He stated that he worked as a volunteer in support of the Pakistan Army and affected families, helping communities and supporting rehabilitation, reconstruction, peace and stability during a difficult period for the people of Swat.<\/p>\n
WPJP said his work has remained focused on peace, reconciliation, rehabilitation and development in conflict-affected communities.<\/p>\n
The leadership also highlighted Khan Baba\u2019s association with young people and peace-oriented initiatives in Swat, including his support for Malala Yousafzai during the difficult period in the Swat Valley. Malala Yousafzai later received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 for her advocacy of the right of every child to education.<\/p>\n
WPJP stated that Khan Baba regards the protection of education, youth development, women\u2019s participation and peaceful community engagement as important components of sustainable peace and development.<\/p>\n
A major part of the seminar focused on the promotion of gold exploration and mining projects in Pakistan, along with investment and development opportunities in other natural-resource and productive sectors.<\/p>\n
The organisation said it has consistently focused on development opportunities in agriculture, livestock, tourism, mining, education, health, women\u2019s empowerment and small industries.<\/p>\n
The WPJP leadership maintained that these sectors have significant potential to create employment, encourage entrepreneurship, attract domestic and international investment, improve livelihoods, and contribute to long-term peace and prosperity across Pakistan.<\/p>\n
The World Peace Jirga Program said it works to strengthen community-based dialogue and reconciliation mechanisms across the country through the traditional jirga system, while promoting peace, national unity, business development and investment.<\/p>\n
