More than 300 additional faculty members joined the programme through university-based Smart Classrooms and Video Conference Rooms.

Organised through the Smart Classroom, the programme aimed to enhance the capacity of faculty members to understand, critically assess and integrate Artificial Intelligence into teaching, learning, research, assessment and wider academic practices.

The professional development initiative brought together conceptual learning, practical hands-on activities, critical reflection and application of AI in different academic settings. It enabled participants to build foundational understanding as well as practical skills for the use of AI in higher education.

A key feature of the programme was its technology-enabled delivery through the HEC Smart Classroom network. As most participants joined from their respective universities, they were able to attend live sessions in real time and interact directly with the resource person, making the training participatory despite the distance.

Managing Director NAHE Dr Noor Amna Malik attended the closing ceremony as chief guest. She highlighted the transformative influence of AI on higher education and said AI was rapidly changing the way knowledge is created, taught, assessed, researched and applied.

She urged universities to prepare faculty members and students to work effectively in an AI-enabled academic environment while ensuring that technological progress remains linked with academic quality, ethical standards, human judgment and institutional responsibility. She said AI literacy for educators was not limited to operating AI tools.

Dr Malik stressed the need to develop a critical understanding of AI systems, including their capabilities, limitations and implications for academic work. She also underlined the responsibility of faculty members to uphold academic integrity, evaluate AI-generated outputs critically, protect privacy and intellectual property, and ensure suitable human oversight in teaching, assessment, research and academic decision-making.

She further emphasised that building AI-ready institutions required capable faculty, institutional preparedness, effective governance mechanisms, ethical safeguards and continuous professional development.

During the training, participants received practical exposure to the use of AI in curriculum and course design, lesson planning, development of teaching resources, academic writing, research support, assessment design, student feedback, data analytics, communication and professional productivity.

They also explored contemporary AI tools and learned the principles of prompt engineering and effective human-AI interaction.

NAHE, HEC Pakistan concluded a four-day AI literacy training programme for lecturers and assistant professors of public sector HEIs.

[3

post-20760","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-health-education
["GET
