ISLAMABAD: The government and leaders of traders\u2019 organisations have agreed that officers of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and traders\u2019 representatives will jointly visit markets in all four provinces to register shopkeepers under the Aasan Tax Scheme.<\/p>\n
The decision was taken at a review meeting of the Aasan Tax Scheme chaired by Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani.<\/p>\n
The meeting was attended by traders\u2019 leaders Ajmal Baloch and Kashif Chaudhry, Member Inland Revenue Operations Zubair Bilal, senior FBR officials, chief commissioners, and officials of the Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. RTOs and Corporate Tax Offices (CTOs) from across the country participated in the meeting through video link.<\/p>\n
The meeting reviewed the performance of RTOs and CTOs so far and the progress made in the implementation of the Aasan Tax Scheme.<\/p>\n
It was decided that traders\u2019 representatives and FBR officers would prepare a strategy to provide registration facilities in markets of their respective areas. FBR officers from regional tax and corporate tax offices will visit markets across the country in the coming days, along with representatives of traders, at already fixed times.<\/p>\n
The meeting also reviewed feedback received from traders so far on the Aasan Tax Scheme.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani said the government, under the patronage of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, had introduced the Aasan Tax Scheme on the demand of traders and had started its effective implementation in line with its commitment.<\/p>\n
He said the first plate under the Aasan Tax Scheme had been installed in Islamabad, adding that the government had fulfilled its promise. He further said that plates would be installed tomorrow at the shops of traders who had become part of the Aasan Tax Scheme across the country.<\/p>\n
Bilal Azhar Kayani said the scheme would help expand the tax net and bring ease to the lives of traders. He added that progress on the Aasan Tax Scheme would be reviewed continuously and every effort would be made to make this historic scheme successful.<\/p>\n
Another meeting on the Aasan Tax Scheme will be held next week under the chairmanship of Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani to review progress.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
