The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the launch of the Women\u2019s Champions Trophy, set to take place in 2027.<\/p>\n
This new addition marks a significant milestone for women’s cricket and is part of the ICC’s expanded Future Tours Programme (FTP) for 2025-2029.<\/p>\n
Starting with the ICC Women\u2019s Cricket World Cup in 2025, the annual ICC events lineup will include the Women\u2019s T20 World Cup in 2026, followed by the inaugural Women\u2019s Champions Trophy in 2027, and another T20 World Cup in 2028.<\/p>\n
The ICC has also revealed an expanded format for the 2029 Women\u2019s Cricket World Cup, which will now feature 11 teams, up from the current 10.<\/p>\n
This change allows Zimbabwe to make its debut in the tournament, broadening the global stage for emerging teams.<\/p>\n
Under the updated Women\u2019s Championship structure, each team will play eight other sides across four home and four away series, totaling 132 ODIs across 44 series.<\/p>\n
Zimbabwe, preparing for its first World Cup appearance, will host Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and South Africa, while touring New Zealand, Sri Lanka, England, and the West Indies.<\/p>\n
Additionally, to enhance competition ahead of major tournaments, ICC members have agreed to organize tri-series events.<\/p>\n
England will host India and New Zealand for a T20I tri-series before the 2026 Women\u2019s T20 World Cup, while other tri-series are planned in Sri Lanka, Ireland, and the West Indies through 2028, with further details forthcoming.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
