KARACHI: SI Global Solutions and Dell Technologies have reiterated their resolve to support Pakistan\u2019s digital transformation by offering advanced technology solutions and products, as the two companies look to take their decade-long partnership to the next stage.<\/p>\n
The commitment was renewed at a recently held event titled \u201cPowering Possibilities Technologies\u201d, which brought together partners of SI Global Solutions and Dell Technologies.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the event, SI Global Solutions CEO Dr Noman A. Said said Pakistan needed to move beyond being mainly a consumer of technology and work towards becoming a developer and exporter of technology. He said research and development must be treated as a national priority, supported not only through funding but also through procurement policies that allow locally developed technologies to be tested and adopted at scale.<\/p>\n
Dr Said said countries such as Singapore had developed globally competitive technology ecosystems through consistent investment in R&D, industry collaboration and commercialisation. He also referred to Malaysia, where qualified locally developed R&D products are given priority in government procurement through dedicated mechanisms.<\/p>\n
He said Pakistan\u2019s public procurement rules also needed to evolve, adding that technology could not always be purchased solely on the basis of the lowest price or conventional qualification criteria. Procurement, he said, should also take into account innovation, local intellectual property, R&D investment, cybersecurity, lifecycle value and technology transfer.<\/p>\n
Dell Technologies Country Manager Naveed Siraj, who attended as chief guest, said technology adoption was increasing across Pakistan. He said the fast pace of technological progress had made it more important for businesses to choose solutions that matched their specific needs.<\/p>\n
He said alignment between government policies and technology adoption at the local level was necessary to gain full advantage from emerging technologies and new business models in an age increasingly shaped by technology and artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n
Mr Siraj said demand for data storage was rising both in Pakistan and globally. He added that the use of AI had become essential for processing raw data and converting it into structured information to help improve business decision-making.<\/p>\n
He said Dell Technologies had been working in Pakistan since 1989 and remained committed to maintaining its presence in the country. He added that the company would continue expanding its operations through dedicated partners, including SI Global Solutions.<\/p>\n
Mr Siraj further said Dell Technologies was preparing to launch new solutions, devices and applications in Pakistan to provide users with access to globally standardised technology, aimed at empowering businesses and individuals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
