ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami Islamabad Ameer Engineer Nasrullah Rindhawa has announced that a major public gathering will be held in the federal capital on October 7 to express solidarity with the people of Gaza, with Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman scheduled to address the rally.<\/p>\n
Speaking at a press conference at the Jamaat-e-Islami Islamabad office, Rindhawa said October 7 marked an important day in the story of the resistance, steadfastness and sacrifices of the people of Gaza. He said Israel had crossed all limits of oppression and brutality in Gaza but had failed to defeat the courage and determination of the Palestinian people.<\/p>\n
Rindhawa said the first week of October was of great importance for the Muslim Ummah, adding that Jamaat-e-Islami would observe a week of solidarity with Gaza across the country on the appeal of Hafiz Naeemur Rehman. He said a grand Gaza solidarity public meeting would be organised in Islamabad on October 7 and a request had been submitted to the Islamabad administration for the event.<\/p>\n
He said Israeli aggression in Gaza had resulted in the martyrdom of more than 74,000 people, while nearly 175,000 had been injured. He added that around 70 per cent of the martyrs and the injured were women and children.<\/p>\n
The JI Islamabad chief said 80 per cent of Gaza had been completely destroyed, while 94 per cent of buildings were no longer fit for living. Educational institutions and hospitals, he said, had also been destroyed on a large scale.<\/p>\n
Rindhawa said that even after the ceasefire in October last year, more than 1,500 people had been martyred and 20,000 injured in Gaza. He urged the international community and the Muslim world to stand with the Palestinian people and raise an effective voice against Israeli aggression.<\/p>\n
He said the people of Pakistan had always shown strong solidarity with the Palestinians. Jamaat-e-Islami, he added, had provided Rs11 billion in assistance for the people of Gaza, including Rs1 billion collected by the citizens of Islamabad.<\/p>\n
He said Alkhidmat Foundation was carrying out relief activities in Gaza and was also running hospitals and educational institutions there. He added that more than 500 Palestinian students were being provided educational facilities in Pakistan.<\/p>\n
Rindhawa said the October 7 gathering in Islamabad would be one of the major programmes in the city\u2019s history and appealed to the citizens of Islamabad to participate in large numbers.<\/p>\n
Speaking about the petroleum levy, the JI Islamabad Ameer said the party\u2019s campaign to secure relief for the people was continuing. He said several rounds of talks had been held with the government on the issue and expressed the hope that the matter would be resolved through negotiations, enabling real relief for the public.<\/p>\n
He said Jamaat-e-Islami would continue its struggle for the resolution of public issues, an end to inflation and the provision of relief to the people.<\/p>\n
President Political Affairs Huma Ayub, Naib Qayyum Tasawwur Kazmi and Information Secretary Rab Nawaz Malik were also present at the press conference.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
