Bangkok, October 12, 2026: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb met International Monetary Fund (IMF) First Deputy Managing Director Dan Katz on the sidelines of the World Bank Group-IMF Annual Meetings 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand.<\/p>\n
According to a media brief issued by the Finance Division, the meeting focused on Pakistan\u2019s macroeconomic stabilisation, progress under the IMF-supported programme and the government\u2019s ongoing structural reform agenda.<\/p>\n
The finance minister briefed the IMF official on improved investor confidence, upgrades in Pakistan\u2019s sovereign credit rating and renewed access to international capital markets.<\/p>\n
Senator Aurangzeb reiterated the government\u2019s commitment to fiscal discipline, tax reforms, privatisation and sustainable economic growth.<\/p>\n
Both sides welcomed the staff-level agreement and noted improvements in fiscal performance, foreign exchange reserves, inflation and external sector stability.<\/p>\n
The meeting also reviewed the implications of the Middle East conflict for energy prices and inflation. The two sides discussed targeted relief for vulnerable households while remaining within fiscal constraints.<\/p>\n
