ISLAMABAD: The Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC) has held the first meeting of the Steering Committee on the National Examination Quality Standardized Index (NEQSI) at the IBCC Secretariat, Islamabad, in line with the directives of the Secretary, Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training.<\/p>\n
The meeting was chaired by Dr Ghulam Ali Mallah, Executive Director, IBCC. It reviewed the proposed framework for introducing common examination standards, benchmarked internationally, across Pakistan\u2019s 27 public-sector examination boards.<\/p>\n
The initiative is part of the Federal Government\u2019s efforts to improve the quality, transparency, fairness and credibility of educational assessment across the country.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, the Steering Committee considered proposed indicators, performance targets and implementation milestones. A Sub-Committee was also formed to further refine the indicators and targets and submit its recommendations in the next meeting.<\/p>\n
According to the IBCC, NEQSI is aimed at developing a strong and uniform mechanism for assessing examination quality nationwide. The framework is expected to support evidence-based improvements in assessment practices, improve comparability among examination boards, strengthen public confidence in educational qualifications and help promote international recognition of Pakistan\u2019s secondary and higher secondary qualifications.<\/p>\n
The initiative is also expected to assist students seeking admission to higher education institutions in Pakistan and abroad.<\/p>\n
Dr Ghulam Ali Mallah said NEQSI was an important step towards reforming Pakistan\u2019s examination system through standardised quality benchmarks and continuous improvement.<\/p>\n
\u201cNEQSI will help improve the quality of examinations and assessment across the country, align our examination systems with international benchmarks, and strengthen the global recognition of Pakistani qualifications. Through a consistent and transparent quality assurance framework, we aim to enhance the credibility of our examinations and expand educational opportunities for our students,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
