PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Commission has introduced a mobile application to facilitate citizens in lodging complaints when public bodies do not provide information sought under the Right to Information law.<\/p>\n
Chief Information Commissioner Syed Nazar Hussain Shah formally inaugurated the KPRTI Complaint Management App, describing the initiative as a move to make access to public information easier, quicker and more convenient for citizens.<\/p>\n
The app enables people to submit complaints through their mobile phones if a government department or any other public body fails to provide the requested information in line with the law. Citizens will also be able to track the progress of their complaints from anywhere and at any time.<\/p>\n
According to the commission, the digital facility is aimed at reducing the problems citizens face while seeking information from public institutions. Through the app, users can follow up on their cases without repeated visits to offices or making enquiries in person.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the launch, Syed Nazar Hussain Shah said the Right to Information was an important instrument for promoting transparency and accountability in public institutions.<\/p>\n
He said access to government information helped citizens seek answers from public bodies and understand the working of public institutions. The new application, he added, was intended to make it simpler for people to use this legal right when their requests for information were not properly addressed.<\/p>\n
The chief information commissioner particularly urged young people to download and use the application. He said their active participation in the RTI process could help promote transparency, accountability and good governance across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.<\/p>\n
The app also offers a digital channel for citizens to follow up on cases related to public information, making communication with the commission easier for those who find it difficult to visit offices or track complaints through traditional methods.<\/p>\n
Citizens can download the application from the Google Play Store by searching for \u201cKPRTI Complaint Management App,\u201d according to the published report.<\/p>\n
The initiative seeks to strengthen the public\u2019s ability to obtain information and raise complaints when public bodies fail to meet their responsibilities under the law. Its effectiveness will depend on how easily citizens use the application and how efficiently complaints are processed after submission.<\/p>\n
