The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has officially abolished the practice of quota-based job appointments in the province, in compliance with a Supreme Court ruling.<\/p>\n
A notification issued by the Chief Secretary of the province has directed all government departments to implement open merit-based recruitment for all future job openings.<\/p>\n
The move follows the recent judgment of Supreme Court that declared quota-based appointments unconstitutional, emphasizing the need for fairness and equal opportunity in public sector employment.<\/p>\n
The provincial government has made it clear that any recruitment that bypasses merit will be considered a violation of constitutional principles.<\/p>\n
This decision will not affect the compensation benefits for the families of martyred law enforcement officers or civil servants who lost their lives in terrorist incidents.<\/p>\n
These individuals will continue to receive their entitled benefits.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Punjab government has also taken significant steps, amending the Punjab Civil Servants Act of 1974.<\/p>\n
The amendment removes Rule 17-A, which previously allowed children of deceased government employees to be automatically granted jobs.<\/p>\n
