ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan\u2013Germany Parliamentary Friendship Group, headed by its Convener and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, met the German Ambassador at Parliament House on Wednesday to discuss ways to enhance parliamentary engagement and bilateral cooperation.<\/p>\n
The meeting was attended by MNAs Mohammad Ilyas Choudhary, Mohammad Riaz Fatyana, Dr Shahida Rehmani and Ms Natasha Daultana.<\/p>\n
Welcoming the German envoy, the Deputy Speaker said Pakistan and Germany enjoyed longstanding friendly relations. He noted the importance of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2026 and stressed the need to further strengthen parliamentary exchanges.<\/p>\n
Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah also expressed the hope that a counterpart Friendship Group would be established in the German Bundestag.<\/p>\n
The German Ambassador appreciated Pakistan\u2019s commitment to parliamentary diplomacy and reaffirmed Germany\u2019s cooperation in the fields of development, climate change, renewable energy, vocational training and skills development.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, both sides discussed prospects for expanding trade and investment, addressing export-related challenges and the significance of GSP+ in supporting Pakistan\u2019s access to European markets.<\/p>\n
They also exchanged views on opportunities for academic collaboration, scholarships, people-to-people exchanges, women\u2019s empowerment and entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n
The meeting concluded with both sides reiterating their commitment to strengthening parliamentary linkages and advancing mutually beneficial cooperation in key sectors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
