ISLAMABAD: The Department of Endocrinology at CDA Hospital, Islamabad, in collaboration with the Pakistan Endocrine Society (PES), organised the Pituitary and Menopause Awareness Symposium 2026 to promote awareness about endocrine disorders and women\u2019s health.<\/p>\n
The programme was held under the supervision of Dr Muhammad Naeem Taj, Executive Director, CDA Hospital, while Dr Sarwar Malik served as the Organising Chair.<\/p>\n
The scientific session included three presentations focusing on important hormonal health issues. Dr Hina Sittar spoke on growth hormone deficiency, while Dr Sarwar Malik delivered a presentation titled \u201cHyperprolactinemia: Clinical Evaluation and Case Discussion\u201d. Dr Fareeha Waqar discussed \u201cThe Hypothalamic\u2013Pituitary\u2013Ovarian (HPO) Axis During the Menopausal Transition\u201d.<\/p>\n
A multidisciplinary panel of experts also participated in the symposium. The panel included Dr Sheeba Noreen, Dr Attiya Naveed, Dr Aziz-un-Nisa, Dr Uzma Ali, Head of Dermatology, Dr Mahrukh Zahoor, Cardiac Surgeon, Dr Hadia Aziz, Dr Sarfaraz Khan, and other respected endocrinologists. The proceedings were moderated by Dr Maryam Imtiaz, Fellow in Endocrinology.<\/p>\n
Healthcare professionals from Endocrinology, Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Surgery, Medicine and Dermatology attended the event. Nursing staff and medical interns also took part, reflecting the importance of teamwork, continuing professional education and coordinated patient care.<\/p>\n
Speakers highlighted that pituitary disorders may affect growth, fertility, menstrual cycles and other hormonal functions. They underlined the need for early recognition and appropriate evaluation to ensure timely diagnosis and treatment.<\/p>\n
The symposium also focused on menopause as a natural life transition and not a disease. Experts noted that hormonal changes during this stage may influence sleep, mood, skin, bone health and cardiovascular health. They stressed that awareness, healthy lifestyle choices and individualised medical care can help women maintain their well-being.<\/p>\n
The event reaffirmed CDA Hospital\u2019s commitment to medical education, evidence-based practice and improved awareness of endocrine disorders. The organisers expressed appreciation to the hospital leadership, organising team, distinguished speakers, expert panellists, participating departments, nursing staff, medical interns and all attendees for their role in making the educational initiative successful.<\/p>\n
