The workshop gathered journalists, media experts, and industry leaders to address challenges in both traditional and digital media while highlighting the need for MIL integration across various sectors.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"803\" data-end=\"1302\">Hamza Swati, National Professional Officer at UNESCO, provided an overview of the initiative, stressing the role of critical thinking in combating misinformation and making informed decisions. Dr. Savera Shami, MIL Lead and Chairperson of the Department of Digital Media, introduced a draft strategic framework aimed at strengthening MIL at the grassroots level. She emphasized policy integration, community engagement, and sustained capacity-building efforts to enhance media literacy nationwide.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1304\" data-end=\"2174\">Prominent media professionals led key sessions during the workshop. Ikram Barkat, Director General of PEMRA, underscored the significance of online safety and data protection, urging media personnel to adopt best practices for digital security. Mubashar Bukhari, President of Media Foundation 360, highlighted journalists&#8217; responsibility in ensuring accurate and ethical reporting. Muhammad Noshad Ali, Group Executive of Daily Pakistan, discussed the role of content creators in promoting responsible media practices and countering misinformation. Ajmal Jami, Broadcast Journalist and Digital Media Consultant at Suno News, spoke on journalists&#8217; ethical responsibilities in an era of rapid information dissemination. Fatima Ali, Correspondent Punjab for Independent Urdu, provided practical techniques for verifying news authenticity and assessing source credibility.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2176\" data-end=\"2862\" data-is-last-node=\"\">The workshop concluded with key recommendations to advance MIL in Pakistan. These included integrating MIL into national curricula, enhancing training programs for media professionals, launching public awareness campaigns, strengthening PEMRA&#8217;s regulatory support, providing digital security training, developing fact-checking mechanisms, and initiating grassroots engagement programs.
