Karachi:<\/strong>\u00a0The vibrant two-day Gems and Jewellery Exhibition<\/em>, organized by the Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC), was officially inaugurated on Saturday at the Pearl Continental Hotel Karachi by the Honorable Provincial Minister of Sindh, Syed Riaz Hussain Shah Shirazi. The event marks a significant step toward revitalizing Pakistan\u2019s gems and jewellery sector and positioning it as a global competitor.\"\"<\/p>\n

The inauguration ceremony was attended by high-level government officials, diplomats, Consul Generals from countries such as Thailand, Sri Lanka, the UAE, Oman, Indonesia, and Bangladesh, along with top representatives from Chambers of Commerce, industry associations, and leading jewellery houses including ARY Jewellers, Motiwala Jewellers, Hilton Jewellers, Hameed Jewellers, and others.<\/p>\n

Addressing the attendees, Minister Shirazi emphasized the importance of the exhibition as a commercial and diplomatic hub for international and local stakeholders. \u201cThis exhibition provides a lucrative platform for local exhibitors to showcase a wide variety of products, \"\"including loose precious and semi-precious gemstones, mineral specimens, and intricately crafted fine jewellery,\u201d he said. He encouraged foreign dignitaries and local businesses alike to leverage this opportunity to establish trade linkages and promote cross-border commerce.<\/p>\n

Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhry, Chief Executive Officer of PGJDC, underscored the strategic vision behind the initiative. \u201cThe objective of this exhibition is to create synergy between Pakistan\u2019s gems and jewellery sector and the broader business community, particularly through strengthening B2B relationships,\u201d he noted. He expressed optimism that such platforms would contribute meaningfully to the sector\u2019s growth, innovation, and global outreach.<\/p>\n

Chaudhry also highlighted policy efforts underway to support the industry, mentioning the government’s formation of a special committee to review SRO 760(I)\/2013 in order to remove existing obstacles and facilitate smoother trade and export processes. He positioned this exhibition as a symbol of the government\u2019s renewed commitment to promoting the jewellery sector as a vital export contributor.<\/p>\n

The exhibition features a curated display by renowned traders and jewellery houses including New Era Jewellers, Heritage Jewellers, Bilal\u2019s (The Diamond Store), Syed Jewellers, The Emerald Royale.Co, Hussain Sons Jewellery, Nadia Chhotani Designer Jewellery, Haroon Jewellers, Rozari, and the Galaxy Gemological Institute. These participants are showcasing both traditional and contemporary designs to attract buyers, partners, and investors.<\/p>\n
