Lahore: The Punjab government has announced a significant allocation of Rs181 billion for the health sector in its provincial budget for the fiscal year 2025\u201326. The funding signals a major commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure, medical education, and service delivery across the province.<\/p>\n

According to the official Development Programme document, Rs95 billion has been allocated to Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education, while Rs86 billion has been designated for Health and Population welfare. Among the key initiatives is the establishment of the Nawaz Sharif Medical District in Lahore, for which Rs6.288 billion has been earmarked. This state-of-the-art medical district will include major facilities such as Children\u2019s Hospital-II, an Institute of Blood Diseases, a Center of Excellence for Nursing Education, a 1,000-bed Cardiac Institute, a Medical University, and a modern diagnostic laboratory.<\/p>\n

The budget also provides Rs7 billion for Punjab\u2019s social welfare sector, with funds targeted at new centers and rehabilitation initiatives, such as the Violence Against Women Centre in DG Khan, and child welfare programs. Additionally, Rs1.2 billion has been allocated for Rescue 1122 to enhance emergency response services.<\/p>\n

In the justice sector, Rs53.166 billion has been earmarked for improving court infrastructure and judicial services. The budget includes Rs10 billion for the Department of Archaeology to fund preservation and development of heritage sites across the province, including work on the Taxila Museum and Sheikhupura Fort.<\/p>\n

The environment and climate change department will receive Rs15 billion to support sustainability projects, green infrastructure, and environmental protection initiatives.<\/p>\n

For the information and culture sector, Rs5 billion has been allocated to modernize media outreach, support the arts, and promote Punjab\u2019s cultural heritage.<\/p>\n
