ISLAMABAD \u2013 <\/strong>In a coordinated initiative to curb urban air pollution, the Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA), in collaboration with Islamabad Police, conducted a focused vehicle emission testing drive along IJP Road, one of the capital\u2019s busiest transit arteries connecting Islamabad with Rawalpindi and other cities.<\/p>\n

The joint operation aimed to monitor and control vehicular pollution levels, a major contributor to deteriorating air quality in the capital region. A mix of heavy and light vehicles were inspected during the campaign, revealing varied levels of compliance with environmental emission standards.\"\"<\/p>\n

According to officials, 15 vehicles were issued challans for exceeding the permissible smoke emission limit, with smoke opacity levels measured above 50 percent. However, none of the vehicles met the 65 percent impoundment threshold, thus avoiding seizure. Additionally, several vehicles received formal warnings for recording smoke levels between 40 to 50 percent\u2014an early indicator of deteriorating emission systems.<\/p>\n

On a positive note, 20 vehicles successfully passed the emissions test, registering smoke levels within the acceptable range of 10 to 40 percent, reflecting improved awareness and maintenance among some vehicle owners.<\/p>\n

Authorities emphasized that the campaign is part of a larger strategy to enforce environmental standards and promote public health. \u201cOur objective is not just enforcement but awareness,\u201d said a representative from Pak-EPA. \u201cWe aim to encourage routine vehicle maintenance and public responsibility toward air quality.\u201d<\/p>\n
