Private school associations have publicly rejected the election results, citing widespread glitches, alleged manipulations, and a lack of transparency. The dispute culminated in the FBISE officially annulling the election, promising a review and a plan for secure future votes amid calls for accountability and reform.

During a charged press conference, representatives from prominent associations such as the All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association (APPSMA) and the National Association of Private Schools (NAPS) detailed several irregularities. They highlighted persistent software failures, discrepancies in election results, and suspicious activities that undermined the credibility of the process. Malik Abrar Ahmed and Mrs. Sakeena Fawad Bukhari accused the system of being compromised from the outset, describing technical issues that prevented many election participants from casting their votes properly. Notably, Mrs. Bukhari, representing approximately 1,500 female-led institutions, raised concerns about disenfranchisement and unfair outcomes.

The controversy intensified as evidence from a WhatsApp group comprising school principals revealed systemic failures. Multiple messages reported portal outages across various regions, with principals voicing fears that votes might have been pre-cast or manipulated. One principal recounted traveling to the FBISE head office to resolve login issues only to find that his vote had already been registered elsewhere, raising suspicions of vote tampering. Allegations of impersonation by an individual named Ashraf Haraj, who supposedly accessed secure passwords unlawfully, further compounded the crisis.

Discontent grew as members expressed frustration over widespread technical outages on election day, with many unable to access or use the e-voting portal. The chat logs from the principal groups described repeated failures, with some members fearing that votes could be cast automatically once system issues were resolved—effectively disenfranchising voters who were unable to log in. Participants also accused certain individuals of engaging in “fake polling” activities, casting doubt on the election’s legitimacy and raising concerns about vote theft.

The mounting pressure and mounting evidence prompted an official response from the FBISE. The board’s Secretary, Arshad Mehmood, issued a formal notification declaring the election null and void. The statement acknowledged significant software deficiencies, including missing validation mechanisms and instances of image duplication that cast doubt on the authenticity of the votes. It was stipulated that a new, transparent, and secure e-voting process would be developed and implemented after addressing the identified flaws. Additionally, the scheduled SSC-level election was postponed to restore confidence and ensure stability.

In the wake of these developments, private school associations have demanded accountability and systemic reforms. Their primary requests include conducting a manual re-election, initiating a forensic audit of the e-voting system and server activities to identify responsible parties, and holding responsible officials accountable for lapses. They also urged the FBISE to halt any official certification of election results until a new process is assured to be transparent.

This controversy underscores the urgent need for reliable electoral procedures within educational governance structures. The associations have vowed to pursue all legal avenues to ensure transparency and fairness, emphasizing that this incident is a critical test for the integrity of future elections within the federation’s educational institutions.

Controversy Erupts Over Flawed E-Voting System as FBISE Annuls Board of Governors Election Nadeem Tanoli Islamabad: A major controversy has emerged following the recent FBISE Board of Governors (BoG) election, which was marred by technical failures in the newly implemented electronic voting system.
