These prestigious honours recognize his exceptional contributions in fundamental and applied agricultural research, outstanding academic leadership, extensive teaching experience, and ongoing dedication to professional and community service.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Zaman has been at the forefront of precision agriculture innovation for more than thirty years, contributing significantly to research and technological advances across North America and globally. Throughout his career, he has successfully secured multi-million-dollar competitive research grants and led more than 50 significant research and development projects. His pioneering work in developing variable-rate sprayer technologies has notably reduced agrochemical use by approximately 40%, directly transforming agricultural practices across Atlantic Canada and boosting industry sustainability. Professor Zaman holds several international patents, and his authoritative academic textbook, along with over 125 influential peer-reviewed articles and numerous book chapters, have collectively established him as an internationally respected expert in sustainable data-driven agriculture. Additionally, he established the Atlantic Digital Agriculture Centre at Canada&#8217;s Dalhousie Agricultural Campus, a centerpiece for cutting-edge agricultural research and innovation.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond his groundbreaking research, Professor Zaman is renowned for extraordinary leadership, teaching excellence, and mentoring contributions. Having organized more than 250 seminars, workshops, and conferences, and given over 100 keynote addresses worldwide, he has significantly contributed to global agricultural education and knowledge transfer. Over the course of his career, he has successfully mentored and supervised more than 100 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, many of whom now hold prominent faculty positions and industry roles across North America, Europe, and Asia. As Regional Director for the Atlantic Region, Professor Zaman notably chaired the successful 2016 International Conference in Halifax and played an instrumental role in the 2022 Charlottetown Conference, achieving unprecedented sponsorship support. His dedicated service on various CSABE committees includes judging student competitions and organizing interactive field days aimed at bridging academia with industry, helping emerging talent gain critical recognition and hands-on experience.<\/p>\n<p>In Pakistan, Professor Zaman&#8217;s administrative tenure at PMAS-Arid Agriculture University has been transformative. As Vice-Chancellor, he has successfully overseen several mega-development projects, established both the Centre for Precision Agriculture and the National Centre for Industrial Biotechnology, and modernised academic curricula through an outcome-based educational model. He spearheaded efforts leading to numerous patent filings and launched Pakistan\u2019s first-ever accredited micro-credential courses in digital and precision agriculture, formally recognized by the Pakistan Engineering Council. His ongoing initiative of leadership forums brings together engineers, agrologists, and industry stakeholders, fostering a collaborative environment that drives agricultural innovation nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Professor Zaman is widely acknowledged for his active outreach to farmers, agro-industry professionals, and broader rural communities. His extensive engagement includes conducting practical extension events and interactive workshops for growers in Pakistan and Atlantic Canada, ensuring farmers can readily adopt innovative, sustainable technologies. Through his effective communication and outreach efforts, he has consistently strengthened industry\u2013academia linkages, empowering the agricultural community by translating sophisticated research into practical, accessible solutions. This dedicated approach has significantly enhanced rural economic growth and promoted environmental stewardship.<\/p>\n<p>Expressing his appreciation for these honours, Professor Zaman humbly stated, &#8220;Being named both a Maple Leaf Award recipient and CSABE Fellow is deeply humbling.
