The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and Alibaba International Digital Commerce Group have strengthened their partnership to enhance e-commerce opportunities and empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Pakistan. This collaboration was highlighted during Alibaba’s senior leader James Dong’s recent visit to Pakistan, organized by TDAP as part of the GLOBE Pakistan Summit 2025.<\/p>\n
At the summit, Mr. James Dong, Alibaba’s President of International Market, actively participated in the inaugural session and a high-level panel discussion. During these engagements, he shared valuable insights on Alibaba’s extensive global experience in digital commerce and emphasized its role in empowering developing economies, particularly highlighting the potential within Pakistan.<\/p>\n
Prior to the summit’s official proceedings, TDAP Chief Executive Mr. Faiz Ahmed Chadhar held a productive one-on-one meeting with Mr. Dong, discussing various strategic areas for further collaboration between TDAP and Alibaba. Following this initial interaction, the two leaders continued their dialogue at the summit, where discussions specifically centered on advancing Pakistan\u2019s digital trading ecosystem. A central theme was the critical need to facilitate SMEs\u2019 onboarding and growth via digital commerce platforms such as Daraz.<\/p>\n
Additionally, Mr. Dong met with the Honourable Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, to reiterate Alibaba\u2019s commitment toward increasing support for Pakistan\u2019s e-commerce sector and the capacity building of SMEs. Among those present at the high-level dialogue were Minister for Information Technology Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Secretary Commerce Mr. Jawad Paul, TDAP Chief Executive Mr. Faiz Ahmed Chadhar, and Secretary IT Mr. Zarar Khan.
