The announcement came after a special committee meeting chaired by Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), during which it was confirmed that government authorities have agreed to address all concerns raised by business leaders.

Atif Ikram Sheikh, speaking at a press conference following the meeting, stated that the decision not to strike was made in consultation with representatives from chambers across the country. “All chambers from across Pakistan stand united with us on this issue,” Sheikh emphasized. He acknowledged that while some members initially had reservations, consensus was achieved after comprehensive discussions.

Sheikh underlined the FPCCI’s role as a bridge between the business community and the government. He reported that the government attentively listened to the concerns of business leaders during the meeting, showing flexibility on the disputed clauses. In response to the business community’s demands, the government has agreed to withdraw the controversial provisions from the Finance Bill and Sales Tax Act. “All of the demands put forth by the business community have been accepted,” Sheikh affirmed, noting that the recommendations from the meeting will be forwarded to the Prime Minister for final approval.

Sheikh also clarified that any calls for protest were made independently and do not represent the broader business community, declaring that, following the day’s developments, no strike will take place nationwide.

Senior Vice President of the FPCCI, Saqib Fayyaz Magoon, echoed this stance, reiterating that the business community across Pakistan will not observe a strike. Magoon confirmed that the government has formally withdrawn the disputed sections in response to the business community’s concerns.

Ajmal Baloch, President of Anjuman Tajiran Pakistan, highlighted a rare moment of unity, stating that FPCCI and Anjuman Tajiran are now on the same page for the first time. He conveyed that the government has assured the resolution of all outstanding issues within one month, eliminating the need for immediate protest action. Baloch added that, if required in the future, Anjuman Tajiran, FPCCI, and all chambers would jointly organize a major strike.

The consensus reached between business leaders and the government marks a significant development, averting an imminent halt to commercial activity and reflecting collaborative efforts toward addressing economic concerns.

**Business Community Calls Off Nationwide Strike Following Productive Meeting with Government** Pakistan’s business community has decided not to observe a nationwide strike after successful negotiations with the government over contentious clauses in the Finance Bill and Sales Tax Act.
