The chief minister directed immediate relief and rehabilitation efforts, including financial aid for affected families, repair of infrastructure, and enhanced disaster preparedness across the region.<\/p>\n<p>During her visit, Maryam Nawaz Sharif inspected key flood-affected areas, including Takiya Shah Murad, Ameerpur Mangan, Lilyani, and Dheedwal. She also conducted an aerial review of the Dhman Bridge, which connects Chakwal to Jhelum. The chief minister closely examined the condition of damaged homes, roads, bridges, and drainage systems, and received a detailed briefing at the office of the Deputy Commissioner Chakwal.<\/p>\n<p>In response to the damage, the chief minister issued several directives to expedite recovery. She ordered immediate repairs to the Dhman Bridge, instructing that it be made accessible to small vehicles via a temporary steel bridge within two days. Orders were also given for the repair of the Balkassar to Chakwal (Tehva Bahadur) road, and for the accelerated drainage of floodwaters from affected areas.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Maryam Nawaz Sharif instructed authorities to evacuate residents from dangerous or dilapidated buildings, providing temporary accommodations for affected families in relief camps or public buildings. She directed the civil defence force to be activated across the province and mandated advanced training for volunteer responders. The Water Resources Department was told to submit a report on the feasibility of micro and small dams in Chakwal without delay.<\/p>\n<p>To support flood victims, the chief minister announced financial aid of Rs 1 million for the families of those who lost their lives and Rs 500,000 for each injured person. She stated that cheques would be delivered to affected families at their homes by local assembly members and the Deputy Commissioner.<\/p>\n<p>Officials briefed the chief minister that Chakwal had recorded over 400 millimeters of rainfall\u2014far above normal levels. They highlighted that de-silting of local waterways had been completed and necessary machinery was deployed in advance of the storms. Deputy Commissioner Sara Hayat provided comprehensive details on flood response exercises, building safety surveys, and ongoing rescue operations.<\/p>\n<p>Expressing satisfaction with the district administration, Maryam Nawaz Sharif commended Deputy Commissioner Sara Hayat, District Police Officer Ahmed Mohiuddin, and Rawalpindi Commissioner for their timely and effective actions.
