The National Institute of Special Education (NISE) has launched its 2025\u201326 academic training calendar with a two-day workshop aimed at enhancing the skills of supporting staff working in special education centres. The workshop, titled \u201cFrom Accessibility to Empathy: Building Skills of Supporting Staff,\u201d sought to equip drivers, attendants, and ayas with practical knowledge and tools to better serve children with disabilities.<\/p>\n
Organized under the Directorate General of Special Education (DGSE) and held on the instructions of DG Special Education Captain Asif Iqbal Asif, the training brought together 32 participants from various DGSE-affiliated institutions. The program offered interactive sessions covering a range of essential topics, including understanding different disabilities, providing first aid, implementing safe transport principles, and utilizing inclusive support techniques.<\/p>\n
The sessions were delivered by experienced trainers from NISE in collaboration with partner organizations. Participants engaged in live demonstrations and practical scenarios designed to deepen their practical understanding. To ensure effective learning, accessible Urdu handouts were distributed, helping participants grasp key concepts regardless of their literacy or language proficiency.<\/p>\n
At the conclusion of the workshop, attendees expressed appreciation for the training\u2019s hands-on approach and underscored its immediate relevance to their work.
