**SHARP Organizes Sensitization Workshop to Strengthen Police Capacity in Refugee Protection**<\/p>\n
The Society for Human Rights and Prisoners\u2019 Aid (SHARP) Advocacy, Legal Aid, and Capacity Building (ALAC) team in Peshawar has successfully conducted a sensitization workshop for police officials at the Police Training School (PTS) Shakas. The event, which saw the participation of 29 officers, aimed to enhance police capacity in protecting refugees and promoting human rights.<\/p>\n
During the workshop, Mr. Manzoor Khan (Manager Legal), Mr. Asad Khan Afridi (Team Leader), and Ms. Hina Mukhtiyar (Lawyer) led an in-depth session focused on the mandate and responsibilities of the Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees (CAR) in Pakistan. The speakers emphasized CAR\u2019s pivotal role in coordinating among stakeholders, implementing refugee protection measures, and delivering essential services to refugee communities.<\/p>\n
The session also highlighted SHARP\u2019s own legal aid and protection services, reaffirming the organization\u2019s enduring commitment to human rights, legal empowerment, and improving access to justice for vulnerable groups. The workshop served as a platform to inform police officers about the importance of informed, rights-based approaches in dealing with refugees and other at-risk communities.<\/p>\n
SP Training KP Police, Mr. Hukam Khan, attended as Chief Guest and praised SHARP\u2019s efforts in building the capacity of law enforcement officials. He reiterated the crucial role that police play in ensuring the protection of vulnerable communities, particularly refugees, and stressed the importance of continuous awareness and training.<\/p>\n
