SHARP has strengthened its collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) during a high-level meeting at its Karachi office, aiming to improve protection and service delivery for Afghan refugees in the region. The visit marks a renewed commitment to coordinated, rights-based support for vulnerable refugee populations.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, Ms. Kiran Kour, Assistant Representative for Protection at UNHCR, and Mr. Hafeezullah Kakar, Field Officer for Karachi, were welcomed by Ms. Quratulain, Refugee Desk Centre (RDC) Incharge at SHARP. Ms. Quratulain provided a comprehensive overview of SHARP\u2019s ongoing initiatives, presenting data on refugee reception numbers and the operations of the Refugee Desk Centre between January and July 2025. The briefing also covered the progress of the rapid verification exercise, along with insights gathered from individual protection interviews and counseling sessions.<\/p>\n
Discussions centered on challenges related to refugee documentation, interview protocols, and emerging protection trends that impact Afghan refugees.
