The report, titled \u201cTechno-economic Analysis of Hydrogen Infrastructure to Replace Diesel for Mobility Applications in Pakistan,\u201d aims to guide policymakers and industry leaders toward adopting hydrogen fuel as an alternative to conventional diesel, particularly in the transportation sector.<\/p>\n<p>The launch was marked by a roundtable discussion attended by leading experts from academia, government, industry, and development organizations. Dr. Majid Ali, Associate Professor at USPCAS-E, underscored the country\u2019s urgent need for targeted policy dialogues to explore cleaner fuels, as Pakistan continues to face significant energy challenges. Dr. Rabia Liaquat, Head of Department ESE, outlined the centre&#8217;s efforts to produce research studies that help shape national energy policy.<\/p>\n<p>During the event, Ms. Alishba Maqsood, Research Assistant at USPCAS-E, presented the key findings of the study. The session was moderated by Dr. Mustafa Anwar and included panelists such as Masroor Ahmed Khan from UNIDO Pakistan, Rumsha Yunus from the Ministry of Science and Technology, Kamil Maqsood from the Ministry of Energy, and several other specialists in the fields of energy conservation, mechanical engineering, and renewable technologies.<\/p>\n<p>The discussion focused on the role of hydrogen in decarbonizing Pakistan\u2019s transport and industrial sectors, the feasibility of pilot projects for hydrogen refueling stations along National Highway 5, and the importance of preparing appropriate technology and policies. Participants also emphasized the urgent need for a National Hydrogen Strategy and highlighted the potential for Pakistan to benefit from participation in the rapidly growing $1.4 trillion global hydrogen economy.<\/p>\n<p>The roundtable concluded with calls for greater collaboration across sectors, establishment of regulatory frameworks, and investment readiness to promote green hydrogen in Pakistan\u2019s energy mix.
