Islamabad authorities have announced a renewed push to accelerate and enhance infrastructure and development projects across the city. The Capital Development Authority (CDA), under the leadership of Chairman and Islamabad Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, plans to fast-track ongoing works, upgrade emergency services, improve city beautification, and build new sports facilities.<\/p>\n
Senior CDA officials gathered at the CDA headquarters to review the current status of key projects, including underpasses at Shaheen Chowk and T-Chowk, the expansion of the Faizabad Interchange, improvements at Kashmir Chowk, and the uplift of Pak Secretariat. The team also evaluated plans for the installation of modern street lighting, transformation of the CDA Model Nursery into a ‘Gardina Hub’, enhancement of playgrounds across the city, expansion of solid waste management, and the construction of new police stations, a police academy, and a hospital.<\/p>\n
A particular focus was given to the upgrade of emergency, fire, and rescue services. Chairman Randhawa directed efforts to equip these departments with modern technology and trained personnel, as well as to coordinate with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). Plans were set in motion to quickly establish new emergency rescue and operation centers and fire posts, especially in sensitive areas like the National Park, to efficiently prevent and control wildfires.<\/p>\n
The CDA meeting also decided to intensify work on the beautification of Islamabad\u2019s main avenues. A special committee has completed surveys to identify all key roads requiring modern, aesthetically pleasing lighting and landscaping. Instructions were issued to begin these upgrades immediately, including horticultural works and the installation of new lights, with no tolerance for delays.<\/p>\n
Sports infrastructure received significant attention as well. Land for 25 cricket and 25 football grounds has been allocated, with further work planned for the rehabilitation of existing sports facilities, the construction of new sports complexes, and the establishment of pedal courts and upgraded pedestrian bridges.<\/p>\n
Transparency and quality control remain central to the CDA\u2019s approach. Chairman Randhawa emphasized that all development projects would be subject to third-party audits to ensure high standards and accountability.
