Federal Minister for National Heritage, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, met with Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar, the new Chairperson of the National Heritage Standing Committee, to discuss the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage. The minister congratulated Iftikhar on her appointment and assured her of the ministry\u2019s full cooperation at every level.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, both officials emphasized the importance of safeguarding Pakistan\u2019s cultural identity. Aurangzeb Khichi reiterated that promoting heritage and culture is his top priority. He stressed that institutions connected to national heroes form the backbone of national identity and cannot be dismantled. Khichi conveyed that the Prime Minister has made it clear that these key institutions will not be closed.<\/p>\n
He further clarified that the primary mandate of the ministry\u2019s subordinate organizations is to promote heritage, not to make a profit. Following the 18th Constitutional Amendment, he explained, most heritage institutions have been transferred to provincial control.<\/p>\n
Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar highlighted the need to further improve the performance of cultural bodies. She mentioned that she has assumed committee responsibilities at the Prime Minister\u2019s request and announced that all institutions under the ministry will provide her with regular briefings.<\/p>\n
