These efforts aim to create a comprehensive database of Islamabad’s residents, supporting better security and the delivery of essential services.

The announcement was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Islamabad’s Chief Commissioner and Chairman of the Capital Development Authority, Muhammad Ali Randhawa. Senior officials from the CDA, Islamabad Police, the Ministry of Interior, district administration, NADRA, and the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics were present.

NADRA officials briefed participants about the Pak ID app, explaining that it will allow residents to register themselves using a simple and user-friendly process from the comfort of their homes. The app requires minimal data entry and offers an efficient way for individuals to input and update their information. In addition to the app, a citywide door-to-door survey will be conducted. Using geo-tagging technology, survey teams will collect accurate data on residents’ locations, housing details, and additional demographic information, covering urban, rural, and informal settlements.

The primary goal of this initiative is to establish a comprehensive, up-to-date database for all areas of the capital. This resource will not only strengthen public safety measures but will also enable more effective planning and development projects in the future.

Chief Commissioner Randhawa instructed that the app be integrated with other services and designed to be easy for everyone to use, featuring automated data collection to speed up the process. He emphasized that the dual approach—self-registration through the app and in-person data collection—will make the information-gathering more efficient and accurate.

Authorities have decided that the survey will collect complete information on all family members, tenants, relatives, and foreign nationals residing in Islamabad. For enhanced accuracy, advanced imaging and photography support will be sought from SUPARCO, the national space agency. In addition, an extensive public awareness campaign will be run to ensure maximum participation, helping residents understand the benefits and usage of the Pak ID app.

Randhawa affirmed that these measures will assist local and federal agencies in making informed decisions about security and service delivery. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and peaceful living of all Islamabad citizens, promising that all available resources will be utilized to maintain law and order in the capital.

Islamabad authorities have announced the launch of a new “Pak ID” mobile application and a door-to-door survey initiative to enhance public safety and improve urban planning.
