The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP), in collaboration with the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI), hosted an awareness session in Karachi to educate the business community and foreign investors about the importance of competition laws.<\/p>\n
The session featured CCP Member Bushra Naz Malik, along with senior officers Maryam Parvaiz and Maliha Qudoos. The Secretary General of OICCI welcomed the CCP delegation and appreciated their efforts in organizing the session.<\/p>\n
During her address, Bushra Naz Malik highlighted the CCP\u2019s actions against anti-competitive practices across various sectors, including public procurement, sugar, fan manufacturers, and flat steel industries. She emphasized the Commission\u2019s ongoing commitment to ensuring fair competition in these critical areas.<\/p>\n
CCP Secretary Maryam Parvaiz delivered a detailed presentation on key aspects of the Competition Act 2010, particularly addressing issues such as deceptive marketing and mergers and acquisitions. She noted that these regulatory efforts have contributed to attracting foreign investment exceeding 42 billion rupees over the past year.<\/p>\n
Senior Joint Director Maliha Qudoos informed participants about the dangers of abuse of market dominance and cartelization, underscoring the damage caused by such prohibited agreements. <\/p>\n
The OICCI Secretary General praised the CCP\u2019s role in promoting fair competition and fostering foreign investment. He also stressed the need for more awareness sessions in the future to support the business community.<\/p>\n
