According to the Ministry of Information Technology, acting on the Prime Minister\u2019s directive and the National Fiberization Plan, the decision is a transformative step towards the vision of a \u2018Digital Pakistan.\u2019 IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja explained that this policy will significantly lower costs for businesses in the sector, encouraging greater investment and network expansion. Previously, telecom companies had to pay 36 rupees per meter on government land and between 200 to 400 rupees per meter in private housing societies for network installation. In comparison, neighboring countries charge only 1 rupee per meter, contributing to their more business-friendly environments.<\/p>\n
The National Highway Authority, Pakistan Railways, and the Capital Development Authority have officially issued notifications to implement the new policy. This move is expected to improve internet access in both urban and rural areas, enabling students to benefit from quality online education, promoting the technology industry, boosting exports, and helping non-IT businesses access modern infrastructure.<\/p>\n
