Promoting HPV Vaccination Through Public Example
The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training and the District Health Office Islamabad held an Advocacy Seminar on HPV and cervical cancer at IMCG F-6/2, Street 25, where Senior Joint Secretary Aftab Rashid set a strong public example by having his daughter receive the HPV vaccination in front of parents and the media. The demonstration was intended to visibly reassure families and model confidence in the immunisation process.
The event, organised by Jhpiego in collaboration with the District Health Office Islamabad, focused on raising awareness among educators and parents and on strengthening parental confidence to increase acceptance of the HPV vaccination. Health and education officials highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts between schools and health services to promote timely protection against cervical cancer.
Officials said the public vaccination aimed to address hesitancy and encourage wider community acceptance. Emphasising that protecting today’s daughters safeguards tomorrow’s families, the seminar sought to translate awareness into higher vaccine uptake across Islamabad through clear information and visible leadership.
