NTC Evaluates Engineering Technology Programs

The National Technology Council (NTC) conducted a comprehensive review at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering as part of the interim evaluation for the Bachelors of Engineering Technology (Computer) program and the zero visit for the newly launched Bachelors of Engineering Technology (Artificial Intelligence) and Bachelors of Engineering Technology (Cyber Security) programs.

The visiting NTC delegation included Prof. Dr. Umair Abdullah as Convener and Expert in AI Technology, Prof. Dr. Saud Altaf as Expert in Computer Technology, Prof. Dr. Yasar Amin as Expert in Cyber Security Technology, and Hafiz Ghulam Muhammad representing the Council. They were received by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amir, Dean FET and Director ORIC, Dr. Ihsan ul Haq, Chairman DECE, and Dr. Baber Khan, Incharge of Engineering Technology Programs.

During the visit, the team examined curriculum documents, assessed laboratory and teaching facilities, and engaged in detailed discussions that focused on quality assurance and practical training components essential for Engineering Technology degrees. The NTC experts held interactive sessions with faculty and students to review teaching methods, student projects, and industry linkage opportunities.

The delegation also consulted with administrative departments and held a formal meeting with Prof. Dr. Abdul Raheman, Vice President Academics / Administration & Finance, to discuss institutional support and resource planning for the new programs. The evaluators noted the adequacy of infrastructure at IIUI and offered constructive guidance to align program delivery with national standards for Engineering Technology education.

NTC representatives praised the initiative to introduce specialised Engineering Technology programs in emerging fields and confirmed their willingness to support continued development. The DECE leadership reaffirmed its commitment to running the programs with strong academic oversight, practical training emphasis, and high morale among faculty and students.
