Advancing KIST Pakistan Research in Energy

The KIST-Pakistan Alumni Research Symposium gathered researchers and alumni on October 1–2, 2025 at USPCAS-E, NUST to strengthen ties around batteries, energy and environment research and to showcase recent advances coming from Pakistan-Korea collaboration.

Speakers and organisers who guided sessions included Dr. Gul Rahman from the University of Peshawar, Dr. Ahmad Nauman Shah Saqib of the University of Education, Dr. Sheeraz Mehboob representing PINSTECH, Dr. Iqra Moeez from the Korea Institute of Science and Technology, Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim of PAEC and Dr. Ghulam Ali of USPCAS-E, NUST. Their presentations and panel discussions highlighted collaborative priorities and practical research directions for batteries and sustainable energy solutions in the Pakistani context.

A lively poster session gave early-career researchers an opportunity to present applied work and network with senior scientists. Three students were recognised with Best Poster Awards for exceptional contributions: Haseeb Ahmad, Urooj Khalid and Mehmooda Hamda. The awards underscored the symposium’s role in promoting talent and translating alumni connections into concrete research outcomes.

The symposium reinforced the value of the KIST Pakistan alumni network in advancing joint work on energy and environmental challenges, encouraging continued partnerships between Pakistani institutions and Korean research centres and supporting the next generation of scientists tackling battery technology and sustainability.
