Pak-EPA Turns Confiscated Plastic into Recycled Benches

Pak-EPA has transformed confiscated single-use plastic into durable green seating as part of its drive to promote recycling and sustainable practices in Islamabad. Under the direction of the DG Pak-EPA, these environment-friendly pieces have been produced to serve both practical and awareness-raising purposes.

On completion, the recycled benches were handed over to the Pakistan Meteorological Department for installation at prominent public locations. The collaboration with PMD is intended to place visible examples of circular solutions in high-footfall areas so citizens can see how waste plastic can be converted into useful, long-lasting items.

The initiative highlights Pak-EPA’s ongoing efforts to reduce plastic pollution by demonstrating an alternative to disposal and landfill. By showcasing these recycled benches in public spaces, authorities aim to encourage better plastic waste management and to inspire community participation in recycling initiatives.

This step aligns with Pak-EPA’s broader advocacy for a cleaner, greener and more sustainable Pakistan, using practical projects to illustrate how innovation and enforcement can turn confiscated materials into assets for the city and its residents.
