CPSP Convocation Boosts Medical Specialist Ranks

The 58th CPSP Convocation was held with dignity as more than 212 specialists received their degrees, including 174 Fellows and 38 Members. The ceremony featured Chief Guest Professor Rashid Latif Khan, with former Councillor Professor Haroon Khurshid Pasha and Vice Chancellor Professor Mehnaz Khakwani as Guests of Honour. The proceedings began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by CPSP Councillor Professor Aamir Zaman Khan.

Office-bearers from all four provinces, heads of leading medical institutions and a wide cross section of the medical fraternity attended the event, including the Dean of Children’s Hospital Multan Professor Kashif Chishti, Professor Rashid Rao, Dr Atta-ur-Rehman, Professor Muhammad Yousaf Bandi Shah, Professor Ghazi Mehmood, Professor Jameel Shaheen and Mukhtar Sheikh Hospital CEO Rana Altaf Ahmed, alongside senior officers of the Army Medical Corps and proud parents of the Fellows.

CPSP Regional Director Multan Professor Ghulam Mujtaba administered the oath, urging newly qualified specialists to uphold honesty, integrity and service to humanity throughout their professional lives. In his welcome address, CPSP President Professor Khalid Masood Gondal congratulated the Fellows and their families, attributing their achievement to sustained effort, parental prayers and the blessings of Almighty Allah. He highlighted CPSP’s growing international recognition, noting acceptance of its postgraduate programs in the United Kingdom, Ireland and many countries across the Middle East and South Asia, and reiterated the institution’s mission to expand access to specialist care nationwide.

Vice Chancellor Professor Mehnaz Khakwani praised the standard and transparency of CPSP’s postgraduate education and evaluation systems, saying the new Fellows will inject energy and capability into Pakistan’s healthcare delivery. She expressed confidence that these young specialists will treat patients with knowledge, compassion and professional integrity and commended the CPSP leadership on organising a notable convocation.

Former Councillor Professor Haroon Khurshid Pasha paid tribute to CPSP’s distinguished history since 1962 and extended warm congratulations to the graduates and their families. Chief Guest Professor Rashid Latif Khan lauded CPSP’s services and national and international achievements, urging the Fellows to dedicate themselves to serving suffering humanity with sincerity and dedication and to become a source of hope and healing for patients.

At the close of the ceremony, degrees were conferred by CPSP President Professor Khalid Masood Gondal and Senior Vice President Professor Muhammad Shoaib Shafi, and commemorative shields were presented to the distinguished guests. A group photograph of the Fellows with the President and Council Members marked the conclusion of the event, which reaffirmed CPSP Convocation as a significant milestone in advancing postgraduate medical education and strengthening Pakistan’s medical profession.
