Promoting Youth Fitness at Rawalpindi Sports Gala
Organisers said sporting activity is vital for physical development as private schools across the city took part in a lively Rawalpindi Sports Gala held at Allied School Chakri Road. The event, arranged by the All Pakistan Private Schools and Colleges Association Pothohar in collaboration with Brendon Fu Sports Federation, showcased strong participation from students, principals and teachers and reinforced the role of extracurricular activity in education.
Dr Malik Abrar Hussain, central president of the association, praised Pothohar Town’s organising efforts and said private institutions remain active in both curricular and extracurricular programmes. He noted that the Pothohar Town chapter, led by Irfan Mazhar Kiyani as divisional president, has delivered numerous successes for schools in the Rawalpindi division.
The gala brought together local education leaders including CEO Education Rawalpindi Tariq Mahmood, member cantonment board Haji Zafar Iqbal, general secretary Muhammad Ibrahim, district president Malik Hafeez-ur-Rehman, finance secretary Chaudhry Iftikhar, Pothohar Town president Sardar Figar Niazi, and others such as Zafar Mahmood, Tahir Farhad from Brendon Fu Sports Federation and Professor Wasim Naseer Kiyani. A large number of principals, teachers and students attended the day of competition.
Haji Zafar Iqbal congratulated the organisers and highlighted the leadership of Irfan Mazhar Kiyani and Sardar Figar Niazi for staging a well-run programme that engaged the school community. More than fifty schools took part in the various contests, underlining growing interest in school-level sports in the region.
Competition results saw Real Science School claim first place, Allied School Chakri Road secure second, and Nobel Shining finish third. Organisers said the Rawalpindi Sports Gala will help sustain momentum for youth fitness and encourage continued collaboration between private schools and sports federations.
