Showcasing Uzbekistan exhibition through Pakistani lenses
On 19 December 2025 the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan and the Pakistan National Council of the Arts opened a photo exhibition at the PNCA National Art Gallery in Islamabad to strengthen cultural ties and spotlight Uzbekistan’s heritage through photographic storytelling.
The inauguration was led by Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, Federal Minister for National Heritage & Culture, who attended as Chief Guest. Attaullah Tarar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting, joined as Guest of Honour and Alisher Tukhtaev, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, attended alongside political figures, diplomats and members of the media.
The Uzbekistan exhibition features work by renowned Pakistani photographers M. Azhar Hafeez, Ramzan Mughal, Shahid Qureshi, Tariq Sulemani and Gulrez Ghauri. Their images offer intimate perspectives on Uzbekistan’s landscapes, historic sites and cultural life, inviting visitors to experience the country’s rich traditions through a Pakistani lens.
As a gesture of appreciation for the PNCA’s role in hosting the event, Ambassador Tukhtaev presented a souvenir shield to M. Ayoub Jamali, Director General of PNCA, recognising the council’s support in organising the exhibition and promoting cultural exchange between the two countries.
The Uzbekistan exhibition is open to the public at PNCA Gallery No. 2 until 22 December 2025, with visiting hours from 10 am to 4 pm. Visitors should note that the galleries are closed on Saturdays.
