Gomal University Advances Surgical Technology Education

The Department of Surgical Technology at Gomal University’s Faculty of Allied Health Sciences organized a One Day CME Conference and Surgical Technology Expo 2025 at the Dr. A.Q. Khan Auditorium, bringing together faculty, guest speakers and a large cohort of students to highlight advances in surgical training and practice.

Professor Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Vice Chancellor of Gomal University, attended as chief guest and underlined that the university’s students are the future of the healthcare system, stressing that academic and research-driven events build confidence, professional skills and positive thinking among learners.

Professor Dr. Samira Zeb delivered the keynote address and emphasized the central role of clinical excellence, research and ongoing professional development through CME activities to strengthen Surgical Technology education and improve patient care across Pakistan.

Guest speaker Mr. Usman Wajid examined the advancement of research and professional competencies, noting how the evolving role of surgical technology must align with modern healthcare demands and interdisciplinary practice to deliver better outcomes.

Dr. Hussain Ali Dar spoke on quality assurance in clinical practice, the importance of patient safety protocols and emerging technological trends that are shaping the future of Surgical Technology in clinical settings.

Students showcased research posters, surgical models and innovative projects during the expo, drawing praise from speakers and attendees. The practical displays underscored the hands-on emphasis of the Surgical Technology curriculum and offered a platform for students to demonstrate applied skills and research thinking.

The Vice Chancellor lauded contributions from external experts and commended Head of Department Malik Muhammad Ajmal, the Dean of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences and the department’s teaching and administrative staff for their dedication in organizing the conference and expo. The day concluded with shields presented to guest speakers and administration while participating students received certificates recognizing their involvement and achievements.
