Advancing Pakistan Rwanda Cooperation on Gender Equality

The High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to Pakistan, H.E. Ms. Fatou Harerimana, met with the Federal Minister for Human Rights, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, to explore avenues for enhanced Pakistan Rwanda cooperation and shared initiatives in social protection.

Both delegations welcomed the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding concluded in Kigali that focuses on gender promotion, family welfare and child development. The MoU outlines joint initiatives, exchange programmes and capacity building aimed at advancing gender equality, strengthening family protection and improving child development outcomes.

The High Commissioner commended Pakistan’s work on institutional mechanisms for the protection of women and children and expressed interest in deepening collaboration to share experiences and best practices. The discussion highlighted how mutual learning and technical cooperation can support programme design and implementation in both countries.

Officials exchanged views on expanding institutional cooperation through knowledge sharing and technical collaboration, with particular emphasis on women’s political participation and gender mainstreaming. The Rwandan delegation also outlined Rwanda’s progress in promoting gender equality and the potential to adapt successful approaches to Pakistan’s context. The meeting concluded with a commitment to further develop Pakistan Rwanda cooperation across areas of common interest.
