PSB pension payments cleared ahead of Eid
Orders have been issued for the PSB pension for the month of April, bringing relief to retired Pakistan Sports Board employees and their families just ahead of Eid-ul-Adha. The timely release follows sustained efforts by the board’s leadership after delays left pensioners anxious during the festival season.
A delegation of pensioners first met former DG/PSB Yasir Pirzada on 7 May to press for payment, but the matter remained unresolved. On 11 May 2026 the former DG was returned to his department through a gazette notification and the additional charge of DG/PSB was assigned to the Federal Secretary, Ministry of IPC.
On 20 May 2026 a delegation of pensioners, including former senatorial officers of the Pakistan Sports Board, met the Federal Secretary and acting DG/PSB to submit a written request for immediate payment of the April pension. Officials explained that technical issues had delayed disbursement, but after taking charge they intensified efforts to ensure the PSB pension could be paid before Eid-ul-Adha.
The Federal Secretary engaged with responsible officers personally and assured the delegation that all possible steps would be taken to clear the April pensions. Those assurances, combined with follow-up actions by ministry staff, resulted in the issuance of the payment orders.
Widows, orphans and other retired staff who had been awaiting the PSB pension expressed relief at the development, and the delegation conveyed prayers and best wishes for the health and long life of Federal Secretary Mohiuddin Wani for his role in resolving the matter.
The board and ministry have indicated continued attention to pension processing to avoid similar delays in future, as families of retired employees depend on timely PSB pension payments for their welfare around major festivals.
