Pakistan, Malaysia Vow to Deepen Parliamentary and Institutional Ties
ISLAMABAD: Deputy Head of Mission of the Malaysian Embassy Mohd Syafik Firdaus Hasbullah called on Misbah Khar, Ambassador to ISC and Advisor to Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, at the Parliament House, where the two sides discussed ways to further strengthen Pakistan-Malaysia relations.
According to a press release issued by the Senate Secretariat Media Directorate, the meeting focused on enhancing parliamentary engagement, institutional linkages and cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Welcoming the Malaysian diplomat, Misbah Khar said Pakistan and Malaysia enjoyed warm and brotherly relations based on shared values, mutual respect and longstanding cooperation. She noted that the two countries had consistently supported each other at regional and international forums and maintained close collaboration in diverse sectors.
She underlined the role of parliamentary diplomacy in deepening bilateral ties and promoting better understanding between the two nations. Misbah Khar said that under the leadership of Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, the Senate of Pakistan remained committed to strengthening engagement with friendly countries through sustained parliamentary exchanges and enhanced institutional cooperation.
Both sides exchanged views on expanding cooperation between parliamentary institutions and promoting interaction among parliamentary committees, think tanks, academic institutions and youth organisations. They also discussed capacity-building initiatives and the exchange of best practices.
The meeting also reviewed prospects for enhanced collaboration in trade, investment, tourism, education, the digital economy, women’s empowerment and youth development.
Misbah Khar said Pakistan attached great importance to its relations with Malaysia and was keen to strengthen high-level exchanges, people-to-people contacts and institutional partnerships for the mutual benefit of both countries.
Mohd Syafik Firdaus Hasbullah thanked Misbah Khar for the warm welcome and reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to further deepening friendship and cooperation with Pakistan. He expressed confidence that stronger parliamentary engagement and closer institutional linkages would significantly contribute to expanding bilateral cooperation in the economic, educational, cultural and tourism sectors.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their shared commitment to promoting Pakistan-Malaysia relations, strengthening parliamentary diplomacy and exploring new avenues of institutional collaboration to further consolidate the enduring partnership between the two friendly nations.
