India Hand Pakistan Seven-Wicket Defeat After Batting Collapse
Dubai: India defeated Pakistan by seven wickets in a key group match of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026 after the Pakistani batting line-up was bowled out for just 55 runs.
Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first, but the decision did not produce the desired result as the side struggled badly against India’s spin attack. The total of 55 is Pakistan women’s lowest score in T20 Internationals.
Shree Charani and Prema Rawat were the main wicket-takers for India, claiming three wickets each, while Deepti Sharma dismissed two batters.
For Pakistan, Shawal Zulfiqar offered the highest resistance with 14 runs. Muneeba scored 13, Ayesha Zafar made 2, Sadaf 3, Eyman Fatima 5, Umm-e-Hani 6 and Tuba Hassan 9.
Gull Feroza, Fatima Sana, Nashra Sandhu and Sadia Iqbal were dismissed without scoring. Pakistan’s innings ended at 55 in 18.1 overs, with the batters failing to stay at the crease for long against the Indian bowling.
Chasing a modest target of 56, India faced some early pressure and lost their second wicket at 18. However, Shafali Verma played in attacking fashion and helped take her side close to victory.
Shafali was dismissed for 12, Smriti Mandhana made 9 and Pratika Rawal scored 4. All three Indian wickets were taken by Fatima Sana.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur remained unbeaten on 18, while Deepti Sharma was not out on 12 as India completed the chase and sealed a seven-wicket win.
