PM to Open 167-Bed Margalla Hospital in Islamabad This Week

ISLAMABAD: Health Minister Mustafa Kamal on Wednesday chaired a review meeting on preparations for the inauguration of Margalla Hospital, a 167-bed healthcare facility in Islamabad, which is set to be opened by the Prime Minister of Pakistan this week.

The meeting was attended by the Joint Secretary Health and other officials, who reviewed arrangements related to the hospital’s formal opening.

According to Health Minister Mustafa Kamal, Margalla Hospital has been handed over to Indus Hospital & Health Network under a philanthropic partnership. He said the arrangement would serve as an example of public service, transparency and effective use of national resources.

The minister said the hospital would be equipped with modern medical facilities and would provide advanced diagnostic, treatment and state-of-the-art surgical services free of cost.

He noted that the facility, which had remained non-functional for several years as an epidemic diseases hospital, would now help provide quality healthcare services to the people.

Mustafa Kamal said practical steps were being ensured to make quality medical care available to the public. He added that Margalla Hospital would reduce the pressure of patients on major hospitals in Islamabad.

The minister further said that a large population of Islamabad and adjoining areas would benefit from free and quality healthcare services through Margalla Hospital.
