Pakistan reaffirmed its strong and enduring relationship with Egypt during a National Day ceremony in Islamabad, led by Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain. Speaking on behalf of Pakistan’s government and citizens, Minister Hussain congratulated the leadership and people of Egypt on celebrating a historic national transformation, commending the 2013 revolution as an inspiring example of self-determination and sovereignty for countries throughout the Arab and Muslim world.
Addressing the distinguished gathering at an event hosted by the Egyptian embassy at Serena Hotel, Minister Hussain emphasized the deeply rooted historical ties established between Pakistan and Egypt since diplomatic relations officially began in 1948. He highlighted the steady evolution of bilateral relations into a comprehensive and robust partnership, touching upon crucial areas such as politics, defence, trade, culture, and education.
Acknowledging Egypt’s continued and principled support for Pakistan on various international and regional platforms, Minister Hussain expressed particular gratitude to Egypt for standing with Pakistan on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. He described Egypt’s consistent advocacy for the right of the Kashmiri people to self-determination as evidence of sincere brotherly ties between the two countries.
Minister Hussain further appreciated the close cooperation between Pakistan and Egypt in multilateral forums such as the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), noting the alignment of their positions on key international matters concerning peace, justice, and national sovereignty.
The Minister welcomed the recent revival of the Pakistan–Egypt Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC), underscoring that both governments are actively engaged in finalizing bilateral agreements aimed at expanding cooperation in trade, agriculture, higher education, and cultural exchanges.
Citing Egypt’s remarkable advancements in agricultural development, Minister Hussain advocated increased collaboration, especially in agricultural science, seed development, arid farming, drip irrigation techniques, capacity building programs, and climate-smart technologies—fields where Egypt possesses notable expertise. He specifically acknowledged the Egyptian International Centre for Agriculture (EICA) for providing valuable training and capacity-building opportunities to Pakistani professionals in the diverse areas of food technology, irrigation, and rural development.
Expressing appreciation for Egypt’s generosity and humanitarian support, Minister Hussain recognized Egypt’s vital assistance to Pakistan during recent crises, notably the provision of medical supplies and assistance in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, calling it an admirable demonstration of solidarity and friendship.
