Barkat Project Supports Cattle Farming with AKIM in Pakistan

The NGO World Foundation and Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan’s Al-Khidmat Islamic Microfinance (AKIM) have successfully collaborated to launch and execute a cattle farming livelihood initiative based on the NGO World’s proven Barkat Project Pakistan model. Following extensive technical support and guidance, AKIM effectively implemented the cattle project, overseeing all stages from animal procurement to final sales. A recent review meeting held at AKIM’s head office in Lahore highlighted impressive initial outcomes and outlined ambitious future expansions.

At the project review session, the NGO World Foundation’s Barkat Project Coordinator joined AKIM’s management as an honored guest to evaluate progress and discuss further steps. The AKIM team reported noteworthy outcomes from the initial phase, demonstrating the project’s effectiveness in achieving its stated goals of sustainable community livelihood enhancement.

Encouraged by this successful implementation, AKIM representatives revealed plans to significantly expand the project. This expansion will involve distributing 500 animals across various locations to further broaden economic opportunities and ensure sustainable income generation for economically vulnerable communities in the region.

The NGO World Foundation acknowledged the collaborative leadership and dedication displayed by AKIM’s senior management, particularly recognizing the exemplary efforts and support offered by AKIM Director, Mr. Mian Babur Hamid, and President South Punjab, Mr. Ammar Yasir. Expressing mutual gratitude, representatives from both organizations reaffirmed their commitment to sustainable livelihood initiatives and vowed continued collaboration.

Together, both NGOs aim to scale-up proven livelihood models such as the cattle farming initiative and to deliver long-term, positive change for communities across Pakistan.
