Islamabad Beautification Plan Latest Developments and Projects

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced comprehensive measures to enhance Islamabad’s infrastructure, beautification, and public amenities, following a strategic review meeting chaired by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, at CDA Headquarters.
During the meeting, Chairman Randhawa directed CDA officials to carry out a comprehensive survey of all pedestrian bridges throughout the capital. He emphasized the importance of timely maintenance, structural overhauling, and the installation of decorative lighting to enhance aesthetic appeal and safety for pedestrians. Additionally, it was decided that the Parking Plaza in Blue Area should be completed and made operational promptly to provide improved parking solutions and convenience for visitors.
In efforts aimed at uplifting community spaces, the Chairman instructed officials to immediately begin upgrading parks across the city, with special emphasis on major recreational areas like F-9 Park and Lake View Park. These parks will see improved facilities such as modern lighting installations, upgraded swings and play equipment, enhanced jogging and walking tracks, and better-maintained green spaces. Furthermore, the meeting prioritized a more ambitious greening drive, including the planting of eco-friendly and indigenous tree species across Islamabad in a bid to better the environment and promote tourism-friendly initiatives such as cable cars, theme parks, and fun fairs, with feasibility studies to be expedited.
Regarding Islamabad’s transport network, Chairman Randhawa emphasized the importance of enhancing major roads and traffic infrastructure, including Expressway, Margalla Road, Club Road, Park Road, and Faisal Avenue. He directed CDA teams to closely oversee lane marking improvements, pavement repairs, median strip maintenance, and green belt upgrades, along with beautification of public areas adjacent to these routes to improve urban aesthetics and road safety. Moreover, major roundabouts in the city will see renovation efforts accelerated, and the expansion of urban forestry projects will be prioritized, significantly contributing to pollution reduction efforts.
Officials present at the meeting highlighted progress in the ongoing road beautification initiative, noting that significant horticultural and landscaping improvements were under way along Islamabad’s model highways. Seasonal flower plantations, aesthetically appealing planters, wooden signage, and modern lighting installations are already visible throughout the city and have received positive public feedback. The Chairman instructed continued expansion of these beautification efforts across additional areas of the city.
Chairman Randhawa reiterated the CDA’s commitment to ensuring the delivery of higher standards of residential, transportation, sports, and leisure facilities for citizens. He emphasized that utmost efforts and resources would be employed to transform Islamabad into a more welcoming, healthy, and attractive capital city.
