Pak-EPA Raises Awareness on Single-Use Plastic Regulations

The Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA) has taken further steps to promote environmental responsibility by participating in an awareness session organized at The Centaurus Mall, Islamabad. During the event, the agency emphasized the significance of the Single-Use Plastic (Prohibition) Regulations, 2023, and addressed concerns from local business operators about the new rules.

The awareness session attracted vendors, shopkeepers, and owners of food outlets operating within the mall. Representatives from Pak-EPA, including the Director (Lab/NEQS), highlighted the detrimental effects that single-use plastics have on the environment. The session aimed to educate participants about their obligations under the new regulations and encourage compliance to reduce plastic pollution.

In addition to explaining the rationale behind the prohibitory regulations, the Pak-EPA team responded to queries from attendees, providing clarity on specific aspects of the law and its enforcement. The session also introduced participants to eco-friendly packaging and products that serve as effective alternatives to single-use plastics, underlining options already present in the local market.

The event marks another step in the ongoing campaign against plastic pollution, reinforcing the government’s commitment to promoting sustainable practices across retail and food service sectors.
